
Pilot (for non AC-Express Pilots only)

Airline pilots often join the organization after their experience and flight schools assist new aviators with their feedback on preparation.
Candidates must have Commercial Pilot License (CPL), issued by Transport Canada, in order to qualify for pilot jobs in Canada. Depending on the type of aircraft and the particular employer, further certifications, flight hours, and training may be necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pilot planes according to flight plans, weather reports, and air traffic control regulations.
- Perform in spections before and after flights ensure the aircraft is fit for flight
- Supervise aircraft systems and sequel any technical issues occurring during the flights.
- Communicate: Safety messaging for ensuring the safety of the passenger and crew, including proper communication and emergency preparedness.
- Stay current on Canadian aviation laws, airspace regulations and safety protocols.
- Ensure smooth operations through coordination with co-pilots, flight attendants, and ground crew.
- Make sure that you have accurate records of flight logs, maintenance checks, and fuel usage.
Qualifications:
- And for pilots to even fly for Air Canada, there are some basic criteria to fulfill:
- 2000 hours of fixed wing flying time
- The ability to meet Air Canada and Transport Canada visual acuity and medical standards for Category 1 medical.
- Canadian ATPL Aeroplane, Valid Group 1 (Multi-engine) Instrument Rating.
- Canadian passport or landed immigrant status
- RAIC Holder тАУ
- Only candidates eligible to work in Canada and to travel freely across the Air Canada network will be considered. Candidates applying for this position are entirely responsible for any required work permits/visas or other authorizations which may be required.
- There are far more applicants than jobs and employers prefer candidates with qualifications beyond the minimum requirements. Examples of additional preferred qualifications, though not limited or required to:
- Any student in a three-year or four-year diploma/degree program at a college or university.
- Aerospace College degree or diploma.
- Specialized training in commercial or military flying.
- Multi-crew jet and/or turbo-prop experience.
Minimum Education, Experience And Certifications:
Pilot Jobs Canada:
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations
- Category 1 Medical.
- Current Group 1 Instrument Rating.
- Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) with 500 hours on DHC-8.
- Previous airline experience is considered an asset.
- Pilots must be fluent in English, and be able to demonstrate effective verbal and listening comprehension.
- Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training considered an asset.
Working Conditions:
- Physically able to perform all listed job duties
- Travel by aircraft and other means as required by role
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors; employee must be able to adapt to all outdoor weather conditions.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
