Career Growth & Compensation

  • Narrowbody Captain:

    • Promotion in as little as 3 to 5 years

    • Annual salary: $215,000–$290,000, plus an expense allowance

  • Widebody Captain:

    • Eligible for upgrade in 11 to 15 years

    • Annual salary: $315,000–$350,000+, with per diem

Who We’re Looking For – Minimum Requirements

To be considered for a pilot role at Air Canada, you must meet the following criteria:

  • At least 2,000 hours of fixed-wing flight time

  • Valid Canadian ATPL with Group 1 Instrument Rating

  • Must pass a Category 1 aviation medical

  • Hold a Canadian passport or permanent resident status

  • Eligible for a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)

  • Must have the legal right to work in Canada

  • Ability to travel freely to all destinations served by Air Canada

What Sets You Apart – Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following will give your application an edge:

  • Post-secondary education in aviation or a related field

  • Jet or turboprop multi-crew flying experience

  • Military or commercial airline background

Where You’ll Be Based

Air Canada pilots begin their careers either:

  • As First Officers on domestic and medium-range routes

  • Or as Relief Pilots on international long-haul flights

You’ll be based at one of our Canadian hubs:

  • Winnipeg
