Career Growth & Compensation

Narrowbody Captain:
- Promotion in as little as 3 to 5 years
- Annual salary: $215,000–$290,000, plus an expense allowance
Widebody Captain:
- Eligible for upgrade in 11 to 15 years
- Annual salary: $315,000–$350,000+, with per diem

Who We’re Looking For – Minimum Requirements

To be considered for a pilot role at Air Canada, you must meet the following criteria:

At least 2,000 hours of fixed-wing flight time
Valid Canadian ATPL with Group 1 Instrument Rating
Must pass a Category 1 aviation medical
Hold a Canadian passport or permanent resident status
Eligible for a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
Must have the legal right to work in Canada
Ability to travel freely to all destinations served by Air Canada

What Sets You Apart – Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following will give your application an edge:

Post-secondary education in aviation or a related field
Jet or turboprop multi-crew flying experience
Military or commercial airline background

Where You’ll Be Based

Air Canada pilots begin their careers either:

As First Officers on domestic and medium-range routes
Or as Relief Pilots on international long-haul flights
