Position Overview – Environmental Services Attendant

We are currently hiring Environmental Services Attendants to join our Environmental Services (EVS) Department. This team plays a vital role in ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming hospital environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Shift & Rotation Details

  • 8-hour shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends)

  • Positions available at Civic, General, Riverside, or other TOH satellite locations

  • Availability requirements:

    • 2 out of 3 weekends

    • 8 weeks between June 1 – September 30

    • 5 shifts between December 23 – January 3 (including either Christmas, Boxing Day, or New Year’s)

Key Responsibilities
As an Environmental Services Attendant, your duties will include:

  • Maintaining cleanliness in patient rooms, washrooms, hallways, waiting areas, and examination rooms

  • Bedmaking and preparing patient rooms after discharge

  • Operating autoscrubbers and other cleaning equipment to maintain hospital floors

  • Safe disposal of garbage, including the use of compactors

  • Following proper sanitation procedures while using cleaning chemicals and wearing protective equipment

Basic Requirements
We are looking for motivated individuals who meet the following:

  • Minimum Grade 10 education

  • Ability to complete the Ottawa Hospital Environmental Services Certification (or equivalent)

  • Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal)

  • Eligible to work in Canada
