First Officer

Job Overview:

In Canada, as a Pilot job you will be charged with the operation of an aircraft in safe and effective manner for passengers, crew and cargo to their destinations on time and according to all regulations and safety standards. Your work will involve coordination with co-pilots, air traffic control, and ground crew, among others, for the efficient functioning of flights.

Position Title: Pilot – First Officer

Location: Winnipeg, MB

Status: Full Time

Start Date: Immediately

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fly and navigate aircraft per company policies, aviation regulations, and safety procedures.
  • Check the weather, flight plans, and fuel needs before departure.
  • Maintain good communication with air traffic control, the ground crew and the cabin crew.
  • Quickly respond to anything that changes while flights are underway like weather events and technical problems.
  • Provide for a safe and comfortable journey for their passenger(s).
  • Keep proper documentation, such as flight logs and incident reports.
  • Continue education in annual training requirements and changes to maintain their certifications and aviation standards.

The scope of our operation:

  • Approximately 450 daily flights operated.
  • Approximately 67 destinations across Canada and the United States.
  • 8 million passengers carried annually.
  • Four (4) crew base locations: Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education:

Valid CPL or ATPL issued by Transport Canada.

Experience:

Depends on employer; most require at least 1,500 flight hours for top jobs.

Skills:

  • Aviation regulations and safety procedures–Strong knowledge of
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills.
  • Work well under pressure and have the ability to adapt to changing environments.
  • Experience with aviation technology and navigation systems.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Good eyesight (with or without correction).
  • Ability to work long periods of sitting and under high-stress situations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and situational awareness.

Working Conditions:

  • Varied work schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Longer time away from home, based on flight paths and schedules.
