Job Summary:

As an Instructor Pilot at CAE, you will play a crucial role in training aspiring and experienced pilots using advanced flight simulators and ground-school programs. You’ll ensure compliance with Transport Canada regulations while delivering high-quality instruction that prepares students for real-world aviation challenges.

In your role as an Instructor Pilot at CAE, you will be sharing your knowledge with a wide array of pilots from the novice to the seasoned veteran. As part of a dynamic training environment, you’ll be playing a key role in driving flight safety, standardization, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key Responsibilities

    1. Flight & Simulator Instruction

    • Deliver flight simulator and ground-school training following CAE’s approved curriculum and regulatory standards.

    • Conduct pre-flight briefings, in-flight coaching, and post-flight debriefings to enhance student performance.

    • Train pilots on advanced aircraft systems, emergency procedures, and navigation techniques 312.

    2. Curriculum Development & Compliance

    • Assist in designing and updating training programs to meet evolving aviation standards.

    • Ensure all instruction aligns with Transport Canada and CAE’s safety protocols.

    • Participate in evaluating and improving simulator lesson plans 12.

    3. Student Assessment & Mentorship

    • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them achieve certification.

    • Conduct flight evaluations and check rides to assess readiness for licensing exams.

    • Mentor junior pilots, helping them build confidence and technical skills 8.

    4. Operational & Safety Duties

    • Maintain flight proficiency and instructor currency as per regulatory requirements.

    • Follow CAF (Canadian Armed Forces) Flight Safety protocols if working on military training programs.

    • Ensure all training equipment (simulators, aircraft) meets operational standards


Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certifications

  • Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) issued by Transport Canada.

  • Flight Instructor Rating (Class 4, 3, 2, or 1) – higher ratings preferred.

  • Medical Certificate: Valid Transport Canada Category 1 Medical (or equivalent for military program.

Experience

  • Minimum 500+ flight hours (varies by program; military instructor roles may require 1,000+ hours).

  • Prior flight instruction experience is highly valued.

  • Familiarity with full-flight simulators (Level C/D) is an asset.
