Project Overview:
Canadian English Conversational Recording Project: Upwork Managed Services is looking for native/fluent speakers of Canadian English who can assist with a conversational recording project involving two-person scripts. You must bring a recording partner who meets all of the conditions listed below for this project. These recordings will only be used for research and development work around Text-to-Speech (TTS). They will not be broadcast or used in any public or paid media.
In-person or remote recording is possible. Any recording software of your choice, or you can use our client’s recording platform.
Scripts will be shared with you on a google sheet, there will be multiple tabs, with each tab containing a separate script. You will read each Google sheet file in around 10 hours with each Google sheet tab containing a recording file submitted. Each recording pair (you and your partner can record 50 hours of audio. The recordings should be finished and submitted over around five weeks.
Payments will be made for batches of ten hours of audio that have been reviewed as fully compliant with all requirements.
Sample topics of scripts you will read (may include but not limited to):
Natural Conversations:
- Spontaneous conversations on various topics
- These are structured chats with objectives of getting data.
- Conversations between one person and an assistant
- Conversations on creative use, wherein one person instructs the other to write holistic stories, poems or jokes.
Customer Service Use Cases:
Which one person is discussing with a customer service rep for different reasons like ordering something, returning, dealing with the issue of a product or service, or getting access to an ATM.
Qualifications:
General requirements
- Native or bilingual proficiency in Canadian English
- Excellent command of written English
- An ability to give dialogue with great expressiveness and make every scene instructional, playing the right emotions for every line in the script. THE DIALOGUES: Non verbals (laughing, sighing, gasping) will be included in the dialogues for richness and variety of vocal performance.
- Availability to submit around 10 hours/week of recording each week during the contract.
